India Myanmar Thailand is now connected by road
India-Myanmar-Thailand is now connected by road, the much awaited Trilateral highway is operational from August 2015.
The Highway is connected through the last border town ofMOREH(Manipur),India to MAE SOT,THAILAND Via Myawaddy–Kawkareik, MYANMAR, which is approximately 1500kms. The construction was started in 2012 with the assistance of Thailand.
Vice President of Myanmar U Nyan Tun, Prime Minister of Thailand Somkid Jatusripitak and Chairman of the Kayin National Union General Saw Mutu Sae Po, inaugurated the service on 31st August.
The 25.6-km-long section is now operational, which reduces the travel time between Thinggan Nyenaung and Kawkareik from 3 hours to 45 minutes.
